Appraisal

The Personal Effectiveness Appraisal module facilitates and administers the process whereby an immediate manager assesses the personal effectiveness in role of a subordinate, measured in terms of applied capability.

Key information collected and presented in the module:

  • Review of Personal Effectiveness in Role
  • Is the subordinate exercising a level of capability:

  • above that required by the role?

  • consistent with that necessary for the role?

  • below that required by the role?

  • If the subordinate is exercising a level of capability consistent with the role requirement, then like someone in the top, middle or bottom of the work band (against a 6-scale rating)?

  • Associated Functionality
  • Automatic emails commence the review process for all managers.

  • The reviews are undertaken using a standard format, showing the accountabilities (taken from the RO Profiler) with timeframe and start and finish dates.

  • For both manager and incumbent, there are opportunities to record confidential notes.

  • Only managers can remove or add accountabilities and these are identified for possible removal at the end of the performance year.

  • Composite information on all subordinates is presented on a standard chart.

  • An equilibration meeting is triggered and administered by the MoR to review the judgments made by his/her immediate subordinate managers and to ensure that equal treatment and managerial leadership are being exercised across the entire managerial team.

  • Thereafter, an annual review for each subordinate, undertaken by the manager, is triggered by automatic email.

  • Progress on the Personal Effectiveness Appraisal process is color-coded on the organization chart.
