Gearing

The Gearing Meeting module facilitates the process whereby the MoR and immediate subordinate managers check their judgments with each other regarding the levels of current potential capability of individuals two layers below the MoR, enabling the MoR to develop a strong talent pool within his/her subordinate team.

Key information collected and presented in the module:

  • Making the Judgment
  • What is the judgment of the MoR and the immediate subordinate manager regarding the potential of an individual to work right now:

  • At one or two work level(s) higher than their current role?

  • At their current work level?

  • At one work level below their current role (i.e., are they unable to cope with their current role)?

  • Does the individual value the work to possess the skilled knowledge required to apply his/her full potential capability in the company now?

  • What actions does the MoR recommend?

  • Associated Functionality
  • The MoR triggers a gearing meeting by sending automatic emails to all immediate subordinate.

  • The MoR and immediate subordinate managers complete online assessment of each of the MoR's subordinates once removed (SoR).

  • All judgments are compiled on an organization chart prior to the meeting.

  • Access is provided to all relevant Personal Effectiveness Appraisals.

  • There is an automatic overlay on the maturation chart (see Talent Planner below) for all the SoR's of the relevant MoR.

  • No information is released to the SoR until a feedback meeting has been undertaken between the MoR and each SoR.
